Berlin Gallery Weekend / Close to Home, group exhibition

Close to Home, april 2012 - overview

During Berlin Gallery Weekend from 27 till 29 april, I took part in the group exhibition 'Close to Home' hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Cameron at MadeMyDay Studio, Torstrasse 66 in Berlin-Mitte.

Karin and Richard Cameron invited over 30 of their artist friends in their 'temporary living room'. The 3-day exhibition consisted of paintings, drawings, photography, interior and fashion design. On top there were live performances and lectures. For the complete list of contributors click here.

Under the Radar / paintings & drawings

On march 25th I presented paintings and works on paper at 'Under the Radar' at RufReaktor, an environment for local and international artists, located on the attic of an old brewery in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The evening featured 2 DJ's, 3 bands and 4 artists. I put up a selection of drawings on magazines and some recent paintings that followed out of magazine drawings. Also I put up a big scale painting on paper that I'd done in the fall and that I'd forgotten about until I saw the RufReaktor space. I think it suited the place and the event.

Under the Radar / music, art and ideas

I'll be showing some of my paintings and works on paper during this one-evening event, this coming friday March 25 at RufReaktor in Berlin friedrichshain. For more info and location click here.

The State of Things / video

In november 2010 I was invited to participate in 'The State of Things', a 12 hour ongoing performance by Maria Francesca Scaroni and Vania Rovisco. As they were continuously on stage from 10am to 10pm, 18 guests, amongst them dancers, actors, musicians, writers, photographers and artists, joined and interacted with them and the other performers. Audience was able to watch from 3 sides and could come and stay (or go and come back) during the whole performance for as long as they wanted.
During my first entrance, early afternoon, I painted 14 banners using liquid acrylic paint and ink (3.30).
In the second slot, early evening, I made a collage on the back wall, using the drawings as well as magazine cut outs (6.33). For photos of this and more look at my previous post on The State of Things > by clicking here and scroll down.
